Oola – Find Balance in an Unbalanced World by Dave Braun and Troy Amdahl is a book I honestly didn’t really expect to get anything from. I thought it would be a self help book that was full of hippy tips on how to live a perfect life that had unreachable goals and no tips on how to actually get there. It was on sale for $3 and my business with Young Living really promotes it so I figured “Hey. What the heck. It’s cheap and I should probably know what this is in case someone asks me about it.” I had very low expectations for this book. But boy was I wrong! This book blew my mind so I wanted to share it with you today!
If You’re a Christian
The first thing I want to say is, don’t be deceived by the “hippy” look of this book. As a Christian, I avoid self help books that do not directly relate to the Bible (since that is where I get my foundation for life). I was pleasantly surprised to find out that this book was Christian based! While they do not quote the Bible or take all of their ideas from the Bible, spirituality (Christian based) is heavily encouraged throughout this book.
I would not go so far as to say this is a Christian book, but it is definitely built on morals that I believe in which made me like this book even more!
Let’s take a closer look as to what this book is all about!
This book is all about balancing seven areas of your life to help you “balance and grow to live the life of your dreams.”
The seven areas are:
- Feild (your job)
When you consider these seven areas, I think you would agree that if one of these things are out of whack, your life feels like it’s falling apart.
Are you overweight and eat a bad diet? You’re probably sick and tired all of the time and have bad friendships and don’t do well at your job.
Are your finances out of wack? Your relationship with your spouse is probably stressed and you feel you have no time for anything, but work.
Is your faith lacking? Your relationship with your family is probably lacking as well which adds stress to your fitness habits and fun.
Do you see what I mean? If one area is out of wack, that probably means one or more area is also out of wack which means your life is not balanced (or in Oola) at all!
What Exactly is Oola?
The book covers this in depth, but in summary. Oola means your life is in balance! You want to have an Oola life. If all seven areas in your life are in harmony then you are living an Oola life!
I know… I know. It sounds hippy, but I promise you it’s legit!
This book takes you through the basics of what Oola is, the seven areas of your life that need balanced, what is blocking you from finding balance, how to find balance the fastest, and then practical steps on how to balance all of those areas.
Throughout the book, Dave and Troy share their adventures which kept me glued to the book. They have been in your shoes! They know what they are talking about. Their stories are both hilarious and sad, but show you that they started from the bottom as well.
This book encouraged me to take a look at these super important areas in my life. Since reading this book, I have thought about it often! I have been more encouraged to eat healthier, work on my budget, facetime my family members, enjoy my job, and have more fun.
This book also goes along with the Oola oils from Young Living. I just got two of these oils and they are AHMAZING! If you want to learn more about these, go here. If you want to purchase any, instructions on how to order are here!
Another reason I wanted to share this book with you today, was to announce that I am starting a book club (March 7th, 2018 Posting at 5 pm ET) on my YouTube channel! You can follow along every week (and they will be on YouTube forever so don’t worry if you come in late) by reading one chapter a week, taking notes, and commenting what you learned!
